Seto

At such a late time of night, there was really no reason for Seto to be out and about.  He would rather be warm at home with his family, watching his siblings fight or watching a movie with everyone.  There was one problem standing in the way of that, however.

Kano wasn’t home, and hadn’t been in a day or two.  Kido hadn’t said out loud that she was worried (of course she hadn’t, and if he’d asked she would have denied it loudly) but her motions were quick and tense, and sometimes he would catch her watching out the window, as if their friend would come skittering up the pathway like a cat when it hears a can of tuna opened.

But Kano hadn’t shown up yet, and finally Seto had volunteered to go look for him.  Kido, of course, had feigned surprise (Oh, he’s been gone that many days already? I knew there was too much peace and quiet around here,) and Seto had humored her as he laced his sneakers and jogged out the door, waving goodbye to his friends that stayed behind.

Still, finding Kano was easier said than done.  He didn’t have Kido’s powers, but in Seto’s eyes he was just a little slip of a person, and easily missed in the shadows.

Honestly, he probably wouldn’t have found him if it weren’t for the scream.  The loud noise made him jump, and he located the source of the weak laughter.  His face broke into a wide grin at the sight, and he reached out to sling his arm around Kano’s shoulders, glad to have found him so quickly.

"You’re one sneaking around out here!  I almost didn’t see you."  He did chuckle, the memory of the scream coming back, and added, "I’d say it was a pretty good one!  Did I scare you a bit?"

{ K } ➤ Scared… Was that it? The feeling he had felt just a moment ago. Strange. It felt almost foreign now. Wow. Laughable even.

      “Haha, a lot actually… Did I look scared?” No use trying to deny anything. It would be too late. Besides, at this point, he was not even sure whether or not the scream had come out of fright or anticipation or boredom. Strange, strange. At least he was found.

      { I almost didn’t see you. }

      He did lack Kido’s ghost powers – oh God, don’t tell her he called them that – but he understood whatever pain it caused. Pssh… He wasn’t as bad off, just a bad liar who suffered via his own selfish course of actions. But still, it would be nice to be noticed for who he really was.

      Pfft. As if that person even exists.

      Oh wait. Seto was here now. And he’d probably ask for an explanation for his disappearance. Kido would probably demand one too, but in a subtle way. Huh… He would love to see her flustered again. What a tsundere.

       "Hey… Sorry I was gone for so long. Guess I lost track of time… You guys didn’t worry too much, did ya?“ Hands were shoved nonchalantly back into his pockets. The smile curved back again. "Aha~ Did Kido freak out? Probably not, but ahaha, she’s a weird one!”

      They all were pretty screwed up in their own ways. A ghost. A mind reader. A deceiver. Huh… Quite the troupe they had. They would probably make big money at a circus if they cared enough for such dumb things… Hm, when had they last visited the circus? Oh well. It didn’t really matter.

      What was he doing outside anyway? Certainly not being a productive member of society. Staring at bypassers and loitering in parking lots could hardly count as such. He had found a few good fast-food stores. Too much grease, but still delicious. But what was he doing…?

      …I forgot. Wow.

      “Oi, Seto, sorry for making you come out all the way here. Want to go back home?”
